Glasgow Commonwealth Games marketing contract out to tender

The organisers of the next Commonwealth games have opened up the floor to selected companies who wish to pitch for the next marketing campaign, titled ‘Introducing Glasgow 2014’.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games are set to be held in Glasgow. Organisers of the event now need to establish a marketing plan and ensure the right companies are selected to put this campaign together. Seven companies have been chosen from the Scottish Marketing Services Framework to go to tender to attempt to win this work.
The campaign will involve promoting Glasgow both as a tourist destination and the home of the 2014 games. Riding on the back of the current success of promotional campaigns for the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games promotional campaigns will benefit from capturing the attention of a nation by tapping into the kinds of messaging and imagery used in the current Olympic promotional campaigns.
The successful marketing agency will be called upon to produce promotional material across a variety of media, from TV to online. The campaign is also expected to touch on traditional promotional material, such as communications produced using poster printing.
A spokesperson for Glasgow 2014 commented on the tender, saying:
“We have long listed seven companies and invited them to bid for this very exciting contract, which will see the successful company work across a number of campaigns for Glasgow 2014. As expected, we work very closely with Scottish Government as one of our Games Partners, and the companies on their Marketing Services Framework have already been through a competitive and exhaustive procurement process.”
