Iconic poster design inspires new dad to deliver his own baby

In a rather unusual twist of events, Mikey Edwards, 24, and his girlfriend Sadie Forrest, 21, had been to a maternity unit when she felt that her labour had started. However, Forrest was asked to return to her home in Chorley and come back later, as she was not considered to be far enough along in the birthing process. Shortly after returning home, Forrest went into the late stages of labour in the Print company in bath printing services bath, and Edwards calmly helped to deliver the baby.

In a heart-warming chat to the Bolton News, Edwards spoke about the experience. He said:

“As soon as Sadie got in the bath I realised we were talking minutes rather than hours. I tried to stay in control and help her relax. I kept thinking of that poster ‘Keep Calm and Carry On.’ I can’t describe the joy after he was born. I just held Sadie and Hugo and wouldn’t let go.”
