Bolton print industry goes back a long way

You can easily find a firm in Bolton to print your brochures, or one that will deal with your design requirements. There is a long established printing company in Bolton that can handle any of your print needs. Blackburns printing company offers design, digital printing, litho, finishing, print management, new media, web to print and specialist solutions.
The company was established in 1927 and was then known as T.Blackburn (Printers) Limited. It was later incorporated as a private limited company and in1986 it was acquired by London based Continuous Stationery plc, becoming one of its subsidiaries. In 1989 it was acquired again and this is when it changed its name to the present one.
They went into digital print in 1996 with an Indigo E-print 1000 plus press to provide short–run, on-demand full colour print. Since then they have added three further machines, the latest being two HP 5000 four colour machines in 2006.
The company experienced a second management buy-out in 2001, which represents its current form. They move to a specialised industrial unit in 2006 and the company now employs 42 people.
This all represents typical movement within the modern printing industry. Many of the larger print firms in Bolton now in business have undergone this kind of metamorphosis. Digital and on-line services have enabled this current type of mix within companies. It will be interesting to see how new future technologies influence the shape of print firms in the future.
