A theatre in Ayr recently reopened its doors following an interior overhaul – and did so in a race against the clock.
The Gaiety Theatre in Ayr was working to reopen in time for pantomime season following a major overhaul of its front of house and backstage areas. Theatre bosses were racing against time to get everything prepped and finalised in time for the Gaiety’s grand relaunch with its annual pantomime.
This year’s pantomime, Cinderella, has created a real buzz throughout Ayrshire with strong ticket sales and many local people excited about attending. This is largely down to the excitement created by the new-look Gaiety and has been supported by promotional materials such as poster printing.
Ayr based Chairman of the Gaiety Partnership, Ian Welsh, spoke about the new-look theatre, saying:
“This is the start of a new era at the Gaiety.”
The production of Cinderella stars, amongst a host of other well-known actors, Scottish TV personality Lea McRae as the Fairy Godmother. McRae commented on her involvement, saying:
“I am delighted to be part of the first production in the newly restored Gaiety Theatre. The people of Ayrshire are in for a real treat with a fantastic panto, produced by a brilliant production company, with a cracking cast. Bring It On!”
The newly refurbished Gaiety theatre completed its makeover just in time for the panto season launch on 11th December. Cinderella is running at the Gaiety Theatre until 6th January and tickets and more information can be obtained from the Gaiety theatre’s box office.
