Aberdeen boat festival volunteer gets taste of marketing
June 8, 2012 by Michael
A volunteer for Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Traditional Boat Festival has had a real taste of what it can be like working as part of a marketing team.
Vivien Rae, a 30 year old who was looking to gain more experience in the field of marketing and events, recently signed up to volunteer as part of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Traditional Boat Festival. Vivien commented on her experience in a recent interview, saying:
“I’ve… been involved in the design and production of marketing materials and the creation of a new mobile website, which went live recently.
“This has given me some essential experience and skills whilst opening up a network of contacts.”
Speaking specifically about her involvement in producing printed marketing materials, Vivien said:
“Seeing things go from initial design to hard copy print and knowing I’ve contributed to making that happen, is really satisfying and provides a real sense of achievement.”
Printed materials are essential to the success of events like this, seeing volunteers working alongside local printing companies in Aberdeen that offer services like brochure, leaflet and
banner printing.
The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Traditional Boat Festival takes place each year and attracts a number of visitors, both locally and from around the UK. Thanks to marketing campaigns like the one Vivien worked on, the festival is able to grow and prosper, attracting more visitors which is a boost not only to the boating industry but also to the local economy.
